FEA Survey - Parents and Reopening Schools

June 13, 2020

As we learn that the cases of COVID 19 have spiked in our state, more people are urging caution in reopening schools in August. FEA conducted a poll just a few weeks ago while the coronavirus spread appeared to be on the decline. (See the results below.) Even during the decline, parents overwhelmingly said they wanted schools to proceed with caution.  They also indicated they put their trust in their teachers and their local school leaders in making decisions about how to safely reopen schools.

Political Leaders Speak out to Support Faculty and Staff Against Regressive Cuts by UVM Administration

Vermont leaders are sounding the alarm on highly regressive cuts being made to non-tenured faculty (lecturers) and staff at the University of Vermont.

The UVM administration plan a 25% pay cut to over 70 full-time lecturers. These educators make a little over $60,000 per year, on average. Many teach hundreds of students per semester. Part-time lecturers and staff members also face cuts. Lecturers make up more than half the UVM faculty.

EBRFT Gives Back

EBRFT Members can simply drive up to our office (11823 Marketplace Ave.) and give your name at our volunteer station.  Supplies will already be bagged and ready to go, so you don't need to get out of your vehicle.  Also, if you know someone that wants to join EBRFT, please spread the word!  We will have a station ready for new members to sign up and get a bag.
