BTU Calls for Review of School Conduct Code

Baltimore Teachers Union (BTU) president Marietta English has called for a review and revision of the new Code of Conduct for Baltimore City schools. The new code allows students caught with weapons such as knives or guns to remain in school. Under the previous code, students who committed such infractions automatically were suspended or expelled.

Wellness Clarification

Wellness Clarification

Some of the date information presented with regard to wellness was perhaps a bit misleading. Because this did not get settled in a timely fashion, it was determined that no changes would be made to the wellness plan for this year. Next year, Phase 1 (which requires an action plan and a higher penalty for non-participation in the biometric health screening) will be introduced. For now, business as usual.

Tax Reform Night

On Monday, September 30 from 6:30-7:30 at NSLD there will be a meeting on Tax Reform. The speakers will be Dave Syverson, Ralph Martire/Center for Tax and Budget Accountability and Robert Evans/Associate Professor of Political Science at Rockford University.
