The Constitution and Bylaws Committee has revised the number of amendements. These will be talked about at the March General Membership Meeting with final debate and vote to occur during the May Membership Meeting.

"Effectiveness" factor added to salary schedule
The JPSB adopted a revised salary schedule March 5 for teachers, principals, and assistant principals. The new schedule meets the requirements of a law passed last year by the Legislature that requires school disricts to factor employees’ experience and “effectiveness” into their pay.
Melonie LeMay is Library Media Specialist of the Year
The Louisiana Library Association has named Calcasieu Parish librarian Melonie LeMay as Library Media Specialist of the Year.
President Bouchard Mudry Spearheads 25 Sigourney Move
The work that was begun thirteen years ago by A&R Vice-President (formerly President) Mike Winkler, and A&R Retiree President Joella Bouchard Mudry and Anna Crawford (A&R retiree) among others, has finally come to fruition.
Finally, it is confirmed that Sigourney Street tenants will be moved to another building. A&R President Mandour has established two committees of 25 Sigourney employees, one to make sure that the current building is not neglected before the move, and another committee to work with the Governor's administration to make sure the new space is safe and that the problems of 25 Sigourney Street aren't carried to the new building. President Mandour has established a relationship with DAS, which welcomes participation from our union in planning the new space.
Governor Malloy has said the first workers are expected to be in their new quarters by this time next year. State officials expect that the workers at 25 Sigourney will be relocated to 55 Farmington." Link to the Hartford Courant on-line article.
Lawmakers discuss school employees and the Jindal agenda
A panel of lawmakers agreed Saturday that the Jindal administration’s agenda hurts school employees and their families. Five members of the House of Representatives spoke at the Louisiana Federation of Teachers’ annual Paraprofessional and School Related Personnel Conference in Baton Rouge.
Another immoral, unconstitutional, inadequate funding formula for Louisiana's K-12 schools
The LFT has spelled out six specific objections to the $3.46 billion formula approved by BESE on March 8. The Federation was the only teacher organization to speak in opposition to the Minimum Foundation Program proposal.
